Ron moved to South Africa in 1982 and joined the leading large IP firm in Pretoria. In 1992 he moved to Johannesburg and joined a leading commercial firm where he became a partner and ultimately head of the IP department. In late 2005 he decided to try life in a smaller practice and established the present firm.
Ron is best known for his expertise in trade mark law and copyright and this was recognised by his appointment to the Standing Advisory Committee on IP law in 2002, a position he continues to hold. Ron has also served on international bodies dealing with trade marks,and has been a committee member and committee chairman for the Brand Names Eduaction Foundation (BNEF) and International Trade Mark Association (INTA) at various times since 1993. He has written substantially on IP matters and one of his articles in De Rebus was awarded the Butterworths prize for the best article in 2001.
A keen aviator, photographer and historian, and well recognised in each field, Ron brings to his practice a broad experience in the real world.
